If you follow LineSharp's Basic Rules of Betting we guarantee you'll become Sharper instantly.
- Bankroll Management – Successful sports betting, like poker, requires you to have a dedicated bankroll solely for the purpose of betting on sports and to manage that bankroll effectively. A good rule of thumb is to never risk more than 2% of your bankroll on any one bet.
- Only bet singles – Accumulators, parlays, multiples, call them what you will, are for squares. Don’t be fooled by the occasional story of someone hitting a big payout on one of these bets, they are seriously bad for your bankroll long term.
- Shop around – Don’t just take the first price you find. Check out the lines at various books not only for the best price but if you’re betting a spread or total then an extra half a point in your favour can make a big difference.
- Always make an informed bet – Sports betting is like anything else in that if you want to do it well then you need to put in some effort. This comes in the form of research; make sure you know things like team news, recent form, weather forecasts and historical trends.
